

Above is a couple of quick 3D paintovers in the method described in previous posts.
Cam pointed out a very useful facet of the projection mapping technique that I've been deploying using 2010's new Viewport Canvas feature combined with the concepts that I've already made. I could align my Uv'd model with the conceptart and simply project it directly onto the face of the building.
It could be the quickest texture job to date.
For all of Viewport canvas' shortcomings when painting directly it certainly does work well when exporting and re-importing from Photoshop. It's as simple as taking a snapshot of your 3D object, popping that into cs4, doing you thing, saving and clicking update in Max and your updates are (somewhat clumsily) projected onto your model. Not perfect but the next generation should be outstanding.
