New Sailor Moon Crystal Episode 1 Review

Story: "Based on Naoko Takeuchi’s legendary manga series, Sailor Moon Crystal retells the story of Sailor Moon as she searches for her fellow Sailor Guardians and the Legendary Silver Crystal to stop the dark forces of Queen Beryl."

The first episode of the new Sailor Moon Crystal is finally seeing the light after a lot of preview leaks that fans have uploaded to youtube (and were taken down minutes later).

The intro is amazing and couldn't be better,  Usagi is back and, like always, she is going to be late for school.  Everything looks the same as the original first television episode but, thanks to new technology nowadays, Usagi's hair moves way more, her eyes have more life in them and everything around is more detailed.

It was nice to see that they didn't change almost anything from the old characters and that EVERYBODY is back in this new version. I love everything about it...until I saw Sailor Moon's transformation.  I said in the beginning that technology helps but the heart of animation is passed from the artist to the drawing not from a computer.  Everything looks just weird and loses some of the magic of Sailor Moon.  I personally think that the first transformation is way better!!

Now on to her "new" outfit.  Nothing really changed (thank you very much) except for 2 things: Her neckless and the white hair pieces that appear further in the first animation with a newer outfit!  Her "Moon Tiara Boomerang" is shorter and less dramatic than before but not bad.  The best part of everything is that Tuxedo Mask is still amazingly charming... (Insert a sigh here).

I don't want to tell you what happened in the episode because you really need to see how everything starts and why Sailor Moon is one of the best mangas and animations from the 90's!! (If not one of the best ones ever in the entire universe ahhhhhhhh!!)  I can't wait to see the rest of the Sailor Scouts!!!

According to the official website we are going to have a new episode every 2 weeks (Why god why!!)

Let me know what you think of this new beginning!!! :D

You can watch it here on Hulu (if you like commercials and better resolution) or here at Animeplus.tv (no commercials but lower resolution).
