Robotech Academy Kickstarter needs your help!

Attention Robotech fans!  A Kickstarter event has been made to create a pilot episode on the continuing Robotech series called "Robotech Academy".  In "Robotech Academy", the story focuses on the main characters children and fighting a new enemy alien race.

So what does this mean for you.  New episodes of your favorite show.  A whole new story line.  And best of all, new toy figures!!!  Also, since this is a Kickstarter event, you can get some really cool benefits for helping out like a $25 donation gets you a digital copy of the finishes product.  For $300 or more, you get to go to the premier in LA, and for a $5000 donation you get to be drawn in the actual episode as a background character!!

Six New Big Hero 6 Posters Make One Giant Image

Six new posters debuted this weekend for the Marvel/Disney movie Big Hero 6. In them, we get some clear views of the main heroes of the movie. When combined, the posters make one giant image.

This marks Marvel's first animated movie through Disney Studioes.

Guillermo del Toro Announces Pacific Rim 2 , Along With Animated Series and Comics

Great news for Jaeger and Kaiju fan, Guillermo del Toro has announced plans to go forward with a Pacific Rim sequel. Not only that, but there is a animated series in the the works and a comic book.  The first movie did modestly in the U.S. ($101.8 million), but did very well worldwide ($411.0 million). Right now they are looking at April 7, 2017 as a release date.

Transformers Masterpiece Ultra Magnus and Bumblebee - New Pictures

Generation 1 cartoon accurate Transformers always make me want to collect them more often. The problem is that they usually tend to be the really expensive toys.  A few weeks back we posted pictures of the prototypes for the Masterpiece Ultra Magnus and Bumblebee. Now on Amazon Japan you can see the listings with the official pictures.  (MP-21 Bumblebee and MP-22 Ultra Magnus)  These figures look incredibly cool and very accurate to the old show.  I love when the vehicle modes are in scale to one another and you end up with robots that are very different in size.  It just always bugger me to have a truck, a sports car, and a helicopter that were all the same size.

Artist Spotlight: Dean T. Fraser at Springfield Punx

If you're a fan of the Simpsons and/or pop culture icons, (which if you're on this site then I assume that you are) then you're really going to love Dean T. Fraser's blog, Springfield Punx. On this site, Dean displays his illustrations of famous characters form TV, movies, video games, and comic books all drawing in a distinct "Simpsons" style.  These character designs all look like them would fit in seamlessly into any episode of the Simpsons, (well maybe not the first couple of seasons.)

Springfield Punx is typically updated a couple of times a month and it is always worth the wait to see what Dean comes up with next.  One of the great things he does is that he offers up variations of the looks of many of the characters rather than do just one set design.  If characters have had variations in their costumes over the years, he will often do some of those different versions.

If you don't see a look that you like, just put in a request, he just might get around to doing it. (I would love to see more Ninja Turtle characters and maybe the crew of Firefly!) Say Wah!? Transformers: Optimus Pen

Are you a fan of really awkward writing implements?  Do you hate pens that just sit in a cup and and don't even bother to look cool? Well, do we have the pen for you!

The Transformers Convoy (Optimus Prime) Pen!

This thing happens to have one one of the best looking robot modes I have ever seen for Optimus Prime, yet have one of the crappiest looking alt-modes.  I mean come on, that pen looks like a pile of robot parts.  However, it would still be pretty sweet to have for my desk.

In robot mode, this "figure" is a 105mm (about 4 inches) tall and as a pen it's 143mm (about 5-1/2 inches).  It comes in two versions, classic red and blue Convoy, and Black Convoy.  They will cost about $40 each.  They are available for pre-order now.

Say Wah!? Baby Skeletor

MattyCollector.com has come out with one of the oddest exclusives yet, a baby doll of Skeletor.  Yes, the Skeletor from Masters of the Universe and nemesis to He-Man. This thing is just crazy. I'm not judging anyone who wants one of these, I'm just curious as to who does. Although the more I look at the picture of him on the Panthor potty, the more it makes me crack up, which I guess makes it a pretty fun novelty.

The First 3 Images from Disney's Big Hero 6

Marvel is getting its first real Disney Animation Studios treatment with "Big Hero 6" and they have just released three images from the movie.  A trailer will hit the internet on Thursday.

Synopsis:

From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes "Big Hero 6," an action comedy adventure about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo.
