Say Wah!?: Jesse Eisenberg Says Superman Villain Will Be Different

Oh God, what is going on with The Superman/Batman movie now.  In an article found at yahoo.com, Jesse Eisenberg, says he will be playing a different kind of Lex Luthor.  I can only guess it'll be a Lex Luthor with clown makeup, squirting flower, and giant clown shoes.  I say that as this movie is starting to turn into a big circus.

He says in the article "It'll definitely be played by a different person ... I don't know the history as well as the people making the movie, so I guess it's up to them to figure out how much they want to separate it from previous incarnations," Eisenberg told IGN. "But I will treat it like it's its own role."   "There's no way to play the history of the character played by other people, unless you do some kind of wink, but that doesn't seem like a responsible way to act," he added.

I understand what he's saying about wanting to do his own version but if you don't understand the role you're playing, you probably shouldn't be playing the role.  I also don't care if he's trying to "play the history of other characters" that have played Lex Luthor and that he wants to play it in his own way but when you start to do that it doesn't become a Superman/Batman movie anymore.  It becomes something less.  It becomes basically a crappy knockoff.  

Please, learn the history of the character you're playing, and play that character.  You can twist it here and there but if you really knew that Lex Luthor is a brilliant, power hungry, insane, Superman hating bad guy, you'd know that that is the role you should be playing and the role that the audience wants to see.
